Antenne

Radion

Antenne asked us to come up with a new light installation for their club night at Radion Amsterdam. The venue is rather spacious (it's a bunker) and for that reason we added 2 beamers to a new vertical LED configuration. The beamers projected mapped images along side the panels. One beamer to the left and one beamer to the right. This added a sense of depth by extending the wall and provided us with more room to play with multiple light sources.

What's unique about the installation is that the projected images would seamlessly blend with the led panels. The beamers are 'aware of the panel boundaries. The moment an object would cross in to led territory, the leds would pick it up and display it. This allowed images to traverse the entire wall and become emissive half way through.

To achieve this a separate video buffer (in Atomsampler) is created to hold a copy of the final display buffer. This buffer is not shared with any of the led buffers and is stored on the GPU for other applications to access (using the Spout SDK). Resolume is able to pick this up as a texture and can send the received data to various beamers. Atomsampler creates the image and sends it to the LED server and Resolume.

The LED hardware and all of the software is custom made by Naivi.
