MOTI VR

Geoffrey Lillemon / MOTI

The MOTI VR experience allows MOTI museum visitors to stroll through a virtual version of that same museum. Huh, what? MOTI commissioned artist Geoffrey Lillemon to create a virtual 3D version of their museum. Only this is not a direct replica, it's twisted and bend by the hands of someone that is obsessed with online culture and the different ways that culture expresses itself.

Naivi and Geoffrey worked together on the virtual world, where we took care of the more technical aspects of the experience such as movability, optimization, tracking, scripting, materials, the making of building blocks and the actual VR implementation. Geoffrey used our assets to populate the world. The environment is completely build in Unreal Engine 4. We also implemented a custom player tracking mechanism to record every new player session. This data can be used to extract meta data out of player sessions such as the average session time, where a player went and ultimately why.

Certain components were written in C++, tied together with UE4's amazing scripting environment. The VR headset we used was an Oculus Rift DK2.
